Accelerate Clean Driving

Uber plans for 100% of its rides to take place in zero-emission vehicles globally by 2040. They’ve also set an earlier goal to have 100% of rides take place in electric vehicles in US, Canadian, and European cities by 2030. The transportation sector in the US is the largest contributor to greenhouse gas emissions, which makes the electrification of transportation essential to the energy transition. Through Enel X’s JuiceEcoJuiceEcoUber driversdrivers using the Uber platform can now match their electric vehicle charging with zero-emission, 100% renewable energy, using Green-e®  certified  Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs), while maximizing the benefits of grid-connected charging with JuiceBox smart chargers.

Driving the just energy transition

Uber will purchase wind energy generated by a 10 MW portion of Enel’s Azure Sky wind + storage project in Texas, helping the company progress towards its global commitment to becoming a zero-emission mobility platform by 2040. This project helps Uber achieve its pledge to match all of their US offices with 100% renewable electricity by 2025, while expanding to data centers and global locations by 2030.
