Year in Review

2024 sustainability highlights

In 2024, Enel North America maintained our position as a top-five industry leader for clean power capacity in the U.S., demand response in North America and utility-scale battery storage in Texas. By putting sustainability at the center of everything we do, we are advancing our mission of empowering sustainable progress, and we are earning external recognition for our performance. These are some of our key sustainability milestones achieved in 2024:

Corporate PPAs

We supplied more than 40 power purchase agreements (PPAs) with leading brands, along with a corporate tax equity investment, accelerating progress toward a net-zero economy.

Utility-scale renewables

By the end of 2024, we surpassed 11 GW of installed wind and solar capacity across 83 plants in nine U.S. states and one Canadian province, generating clean energy that avoided approximately 10 million metric tons of CO2 equivalent.

Demand response

We grew our demand response portfolio to 4.8 GW of capacity across more than 10,800 sites in 31 states and two Canadian provinces, with our customers responding to 664 demand response events, providing flexibility to the grid of more than 16,000 MWh of curtailment.

Innovation culture

We signed the largest solar grazing agreement in the United States, bringing more than 6,000 sheep to graze across 10,000 acres of solar projects. In addition, we were named to Fast Company's World Changing Ideas List for driving meaningful change in the world.

Operational excellence

Enel North America’s Azure Sky solar-plus-storage project achieved an Envision Gold rating for sustainable infrastructure. The project is the first renewables hybrid plant and largest solar project to receive an Envision rating from the Institute for Sustainable Infrastructure (ISI).
